This workshop is a one-day training for clergy to increase confidence singing/chanting in public and to prepare specifically to chant the Exsultet at the Easter Vigil. The skills learned here can be applied to other sections of chant and song that may be desired in the liturgy. The morning session will focus on an introduction to vocal health and techniques. The afternoon session will be a time to practice chanting the Exsultet, with opportunities for group and optional individual practice. The information and methods learned in this course can be applied toward other skills such as leading group singing, maintaining vocal health, and accurately learning other liturgical chants. The workshop date for 2021 is Saturday, March 6.

About Dr. Maynard:
Marlayna Maynard, DMA is an independent voice teacher and freelance performing artist based in Nashville, Tennessee. She focuses on building voices and confidence in adult avocational clients. Dr. Maynard has over fifteen years of experience teaching adults and children. Her past teaching appointments include Radford University, the University of Memphis, Marshall University, Bowling Green State University, and many summer programs and music schools. She holds degrees from the University of Memphis (DMA), Bowling Green State University (MM), and Marshall University (BA). She delights in working alongside singers from beginning to advanced levels to increase their vocal function and expressivity.
